Meetings

General Meetings
TVQG meets at 7:00pm the third Tuesday of each month (except December), at the King City Clubhouse, 15245 SW 116th Ave, Portland, OR.  Meetings include a guest speaker or a quilting-focused program, a short business meeting, door prizes, a block-of-the-month presentation, and a fat-quarter-of-the-month drawing. We also hold a  “show and tell” segment where members display quilts they have been working on. Non-members are welcome to attend our meetings for a $5 guest fee. Doors open for every general meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. to allow quilters to mix and mingle for a bit before the meeting starts.

Member-Involved Programs at General Meetings
From time to time TVQG sponsors member-involved programs at their General Meetings. Some of the events we’ve held in the past were Game Night, Quilt Kit Assembly, A Brown Bag Auction, an Orphan Block Adoption Program, and a Potluck Dinner.

Board Meetings
TVQG holds regularly scheduled monthly Board Meetings on the first Tuesday of the month, except in December. Board meetings are held in the King City Civic Association Crown Center Building located in the Boardroom of the main King City Clubhouse. In attendance at our board meetings are our officers and committee chairpersons. Board meetings are open to all TVQG members should they be interested in attending. However, non-board members will not have voting privileges. For additional information on TVQG’s board meetings, please reach out to any of our TVQG board members.

Charity Quilting, and Quilts of Valor Groups
TVQG maintains a very active charity quilt presence. Many of our quilters donate quilts to various organizations.  We have an active charity-related sewing group, and Quilts of Valor groups, and a Fire and Rescue group that focuses on making quilts benefiting victims of major natural disasters such as wildfires and floods.

Our charity groups make quilts for a variety of organizations in the local area.  At all TVQG charity-related sew days quilters may bring their own quilting project to work on or may select fabric, batting, or patterns from our donated supplies.  If attending an open sew day please bring your own machine and sewing tools.

The Fire and Rescue group is headed by Sue Capell,  She assists with coordination efforts to provide quilts to victims who have lost their homes due to natural disasters including fires, such as wildfires and flooding.  Please send an email to TVQG.ContactUs@gmail.com if you have a quilt you would like to donate to this effort.

Our Quilts of Valor sew group makes quilt tops for donation to service members and veterans touched by war. TVQG’s Quilts of Valor sew group meets on a regular basis. Please contact LoisMarie Mayer, Chairperson of the TVQG’s QOV sew group at lov2kwilt@aol.com if you would to be included in her upcoming meeting notifications or for any additional information about this group.  You can learn more about this nationwide program by visiting the National Quilts of Valor website.
